Early in December Kate was driving in rush hour down the Nauranga Gorge, which is 6 lanes wide, and the car in front of her bowled a kitten. She could tell it was alive but injured as he was writhing on the ground ... so she put on her hand brake and hazard lights and jumped out. Fortunately the lanes on her side of the road were going quite slowly. The people in the cars behind her were also very supportive and pointed out where he was, as in spite of his injuries he was rushing all over the place and narrowly missed being hit again... She caught him as he was climbing between the breaks and wheel hub of the car behind her. Luckily the driver was casually drinking coffee and didn't move an inch, so Kate didn't lose any fingers and the kitten didn't get squashed!
We have called him Mogwai, he is all black and about 7 weeks old. He lost a canine tooth and had a cut on his chin but was miraculously otherwise uninjured!
He was very much a wild kitten when Kate caught him but within hours was purring and happy with a full belly and enjoying our warm house. He is getting along well with everyone and is very settled and happy! His injuries healed very quickly and he plays and sits on laps and loves people and is generally a joy to be around! Mogwai will be available for adoption fairly soon when he is old enough to be desexed.
