Our latest arrival is Larry, a gentle kunekune pig, who is about two years old. He came to stay during the week before Christmas. He has a sweet and placid nature, and was raised as a house pig from around six weeks of age. However, recently his caregivers found themselves in a situation where they couldn't look after him any more. Other possible homes fell through, and Larry was about to be sent to slaughter. Luckily a friend managed to connect with us and he has just moved in to the sanctuary.
We're delighted to be able to offer him a happy and safe vegetarian Christmas with plenty of pig friends! As you can see from the photograph, he is somewhat overweight, so plenty of play and exercise will be good for his health. We'll be posting further updates describing Larry's progress as he settles in to the sanctuary and makes friends with other pigs.
