Here at the sanctuary, we send love and solidarity to Muslim whānau in Ōtautahi/Christchurch and throughout Aotearoa following the terror attack on 15 March. The Black Sheep Animal Sanctuary Ōtaki is deeply opposed to all forms of violence, racial hatred and oppression everywhere. We send our heartfelt support to all affected, in sorrow and love. Aroha, strength, and courage to Ōtautahi, and to Aotearoa.
"It’s time to make a stand. Defend our rights. Protect us from terrorism. Use your position to send a clear message that hatred has no place in society. Stop giving a platform to extremists. Stop pretending that white nationalism is not a threat to us all. Have the courage to stand up for our rights as citizens"-- Masuma Rahim. https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2019/mar/15/christchurch-muslims-thoughts-prayers-far-right?
