Sponsor one of our permanent residents

By making a small regular payment to the Black Sheep Animal Sanctuary you can individually sponsor one of our permanent residents and directly contribute towards the cost of their food, vet bills and the general care they need in order to live healthy, happy lives.

In return you will receive a sponsorship certificate, regular email updates about the sanctuary animals and you can feel proud that you are making an important difference to animal lives. You will also have the opportunity to visit the animals at the Black Sheep during our summer working bees, during which you will be offered a tour of the sanctuary and a vegan morning tea.

The cost of sponsorship varies from animal to animal, starting from as little as $10 per month. As the sponsorship payment generally does not cover the full cost of animal care, some animals may be supported by more than one sponsor. Please read the profiles of our residents below and choose who you would like to support. Once you have decided, click the button below to fill out a sponsor form.
Mary Ann

Individual sponsorship: $30 per month

Here is Mary-Ann with her sister Betty Boo. She arrived in the winter of 2015 along with Moby.  Mary-Ann is the braver sister, and has become best buddies with Roscoe. Together the two are very playful, and get up to all kinds of mischief.
Myfanwy

Individual sponsorship: $10 per month

Myfanwy's and Deadpool's former caregivers were moving to Australia, and could no longer look after them. They have now settled into the sanctuary and are making friends with the other ducks.
Ginko & Comfrey

Individual sponsorship: $30 per month each

Ginko and Comfrey are two large and lovely white Saneen goats, who were found as strays in the Porirua area. The Waikanae branch of the SPCA originally rescued them, but when they were unable to be rehomed, they found a safe haven at the Black Sheep Animal Sanctuary and quickly settled in to the herd.
Sirius
Individual sponsorship: $40 per month

Many years ago Sirius was rescued from a dairy farm as a tiny bobby calf. As bobby calves are routinely killed at a few days of age, we are so relieved that he is safe with us. He has grown into an enormous gentle giant who loves life at the sanctuary.
Iris

Individual sponsorship: $40 per month

Iris arrived at the sanctuary as a young heifer. She had been rescued from an organic dairy farm. If she has stayed, she would have gone into the dairy industry, constantly pregnant and her babies taken away from her. We're so glad she is with us at the sanctuary. Here she is with her friend Hazel, who has since been rehomed to a safe loving home with other cows. Iris enjoys lfe with Sirius and Struan.

Gus

Individual sponsorship: $10 per month

Gus is a large beautiful rooster who came to the sanctuary after the Christchurch earthquake when shelters were trying to clear space for all the pets that had been separated from their owners. He lives with his friends in the orchard down the hill from the caretaker house.

Falafel

​Individual sponsorship: $10 per month

Beautiful Falafel was rescued from a busy road after being hit by a car. At first she couldn't walk, but is now doing very well on her two webbed feet. She is very friendly and happy.
Trotter

Individual sponsorship: $30 per month

​Trotter arrived at the sanctuary nearly six years ago with his best friend Tommy who recently passed away. He has a very cheerful nature, loving scratches and belly rubs. He is always smiling no matter what happens! Trotter is often found either exploring his paddock or lying in the sun. He is extremely gentle and loves all human attention.
Struan

​Individual sponsorship: $40 per month

Struan and her friend Gypsy were two splendid cows who desperately needed a home and found shelter at the Black Sheep Animal Sanctuary. Gypsy has since moved with her friend Lily to a wonderful home not far from the sanctuary, but Struan is still living happily at the sanctuary with Iris and Sirius.
Donatello

Individual sponsorship: $10 per month

Donatello is a lovely rescued rooster who suffered an injury and had to live in the caretaker house for a while. He improved quickly though, and is now very happy to be back with his mates in the rooster orchard.
Sparkles

Individual sponsorship: $20 per month

In early 2018, Sparkles arrived at the sanctuary. She was flyblown and had face death. She has made a wonderful recovery though, and is very friendly and interactive, loving contact with humans.
The animal sponsorship scheme enables us to help more animals through the Black Sheep Animal Sanctuary.
