The recipes in A flavour of freedom are inspired by many different cultures, peoples and communities. Food history offers insights into colonisation, trade, capitalism, and Indigenous lifeways and foodways. Unfortunately, there was not enough space in this cookbook to acknowledge all the food traditions associated with the recipes we collected.
For now, we have started to explore some of the history and politics for elected recipes and ingredients. Please see the links below, as a starting point. We will develop these pages further and we welcome comments and suggestions - please send through to [email protected]
